Dr. Rosario Núñez received her PhD from Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 1996 under the supervision of Prof. Clara Viñas. After a postdoctoral period at Université de Montpellier II (1996-1998), she joined the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) and became a Tenured Scientist in 2001. She was promoted to Scientific Researcher in 2018 and currently leads the Inorganic Materials and Catalysis Laboratory (LMI).
Her research focuses on the development of boron cluster-based derivatives for materials science, catalysis, and biomedicine. She has made significant contributions to luminescence properties of carborane derivatives. More recently, her interest focuses on theranostics for bioimaging and BNCT therapy, as well as the development of antimicrobial agents.
She was co-chaired of the EuroBoron9 (2022), and member of several Organizing and International Committees: I EUROBORON (1997), XIII IMEBORON (2008), 7YBNCT (2013), MATBIO2017 (2017) and 19-ICNCT (2021). She is co-founded of the spin-off Labsinlove S.L. devoted to develop materials for advanced cancer therapies.
